Canadian Organic Aquaculture Standard

The Canadian General Standards Board published the National Standard of Canada Organic Aquaculture Standard (#. CAN/CGSB-32.312-2012) in May of 2012. The standard was sponsored by Fisheries and Oceans Canada and provides voluntary requirements for companies for the development of organic seafood products.

Organic aquaculture is based on principles that support healthy practices. These principles aim to increase the quality and durability of the environment through specific management and production methods. They also focus on ensuring the humane treatment of animals.
